RUNFASTER4EU participated in the annual Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) Cluster Workshop, held in Brussels and dedicated this year to projects developing innovative bio-based solutions for the food, feed, and nutraceutical sectors.
The event brought together around 60 participants, including researchers, industry representatives, European Commission officials, and key stakeholders from across the European bioeconomy community. The workshop provided a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, discussing common challenges, and identifying opportunities for collaboration among projects funded by CBE JU, Horizon Europe, and other European programmes.
As food and feed ingredients represent a significant part of the CBE JU project portfolio, discussions focused on the latest technological advances and pathways for bringing innovative bio-based ingredients to market. Participants explored key challenges related to regulatory approval processes, consumer acceptance, industrial scale-up, and investment needs, while also highlighting the importance of supportive policy frameworks and stronger cooperation between innovators, industry, and policymakers.
During the first thematic session, RUNFASTER4EU was featured among the flagship projects driving innovation in sustainable food and feed ingredients. Together with projects such as SUSTAINEXT, UP4HEALTH, PURPLE4LIFE and INNOPROTEIN, the initiative showcased innovative technologies and processes designed to create high-value bio-based ingredients from agricultural and biological resources.
RUNFASTER4EU was proud to contribute to these discussions and to showcase its vision for sustainable bio-based value chains based on low-ILUC-risk oil crops cultivated on marginal lands. The project’s participation reinforced its commitment to supporting Europe’s transition towards more sustainable, circular, and resilient food and feed systems.
